Attendance Policy

It is the expectation that students will attend all classes. If there is a reason for your absence, the student must contact the school and provide that reason.

There is a limit to how many classes a student can miss without a valid reason, before some form of action will be taken to help remedy the situation. The limit per course is 3 absences which is approximately 10 hours.

If a student is absent for 4-5 days, then a meeting will be set up with the student, parents, teacher and the academic advisor to discuss and create an action plan. Part of this plan might include the student paying for the teacher to help them make up the missed course material.

If a student is absent for 6 or more days, then the student will be automatically removed from the course and will be given the opportunity to re-take the course when the course will be offered again. We contact the student if they are late to class, making sure that they are aware they are late or missing class and a record will be kept of the dates, reason and any appropriate action taken. This will be kept in the students’ file.

Inclement Weather

Occasionally the school might be required to close the school for safety reasons due to inclement weather especially during the winter months. In the event of closure, the students will be notified through either:

  • E-mail
  • Instagram (students are encouraged to register and follow Convoy International)
  • School website.

Cell Phone Policy

Convoy International has implemented a no cell phone in class policy. We have noticed that a lot of students have been using their phones in class instead of paying attention which is both disrespectful to the teacher and prohibits them from paying attention to their full potential.

This new policy is to help the students. We are here to ensure that they get the most out of their education and we believe that this is the first step to doing so.

In the beginning of class, students will be asked to put their phones in a basket, which will be with the teacher until the end of class. If they refuse to do so, we have allowed the teachers to confiscate them. The phone must be silent before it is given to the teacher.

If students require their phones in special circumstances, this will be at the discretion of the teacher.

Refund Policy

The Course Fee will not be refunded under the following circumstances:

International Student for In-class Courses

  • The $500.00 Registration Fee;
  • If the student has obtained or extended their student visa using the documents issued by CISA;
  • If the student is dismissed in violation of school rules and policies;
  • If the student needs to drop or withdraw any course.

Local Student for In-class Courses

  • The $500.00 Registration Fee;
  • If the student is dismissed in violation of school rules and policies;
  • If the student needs to drop or withdraw any course.

International/Local Student for Online Courses

  • The $500.00 Registration Fee;
  • The Course Fee for the course that is opened for the student and the account information of that course is sent to the student;
  • 50% of the Course Fee for the courses that are not yet opened by the School for the student.

Health and Safety

Convoy International takes the students health and safety very seriously. We ensure that all students are safe, and their health is not affected in any way being in the school.

In case of any emergency, it is crucial for the students to know exactly what to do. We encourage the students to remain calm and follow the teachers and administrators’ instructions.

In Convoy International, we make sure that nothing is going to happen to jeopardize the student’s health (mental or physical) in any way. This includes things like bullying, cyberbullying. Drug use of any way is prohibited on school ground, and if a student were to come to class with any drugs in their system, it is an automatic expulsion. Other reasons for immediate expulsion are if the student shows acts of extreme violence, and/or if we find the following with a student on the school property:

  • Drugs/Illegal substances
  • Explosives
  • Weapons
  • Firearms

Course Assessment

Students are encouraged to try their best in all their classes. Their marks are given through percentages. A passing grade is 50% or higher.

If a student fails a compulsory class, they are required to retake the same course until they are successful. However, if a student were to fail an elective course, they are not required to retake it. If they have more than 30 credits in total, they do not need to retake it at all. If they have less than 30 credits, they may choose to either retake that same course or another course for the credit. The course is assessed with 70% Term Assessments and 30% Summative Assessment.

Achievement Chart

Final Examinations

Final examinations are typically held during the last week of the course.

Remember, if you do not attend an exam without prior notification and valid documents, you will receive a grade of zero (0%).

Academic Dishonesty

Please take note that Convoy International takes Academic Dishonesty very seriously. Academic Dishonestly including cheating of any type or plagiarism will not be tolerated.

Plagiarism is any type of copying information from books/articles/online sources as your own work without the proper citation. Citation differs based on teachers, so make sure you know what is required for each class.

Convoy International Secondary Academy is a private English-language boarding and day school for grades 9 to 12 in Ontario, Canada.

2023 Christmas Holidays

🔔🌲🎁🎄🎁🌲🔔

Dear Student,

Today is the last day of school until we come back in the new year on January 3rd! In-class and Zoom classes will not be going on during the holidays, however, students will still have access to Moodle. This is a great time to catch up on missed work, or get ahead and read future course materials to get a deeper understanding. We are wishing everyone, happy holidays and we hope you enjoy this well-earned break!
