2020-2021 was an extraordinary year in education. With the joint efforts of all staff and students, Convoy international Secondary Academy has made outstanding achievements in students' health and safety, academic achievements and university admission, as well as extracurricular life in the past academic year.
In the past year, our in-class and online teaching systems have been further developed and upgraded. We gained a lot of valuable experience and achieved outstanding results. In our in-class teaching, we have added Google Classroom to all courses. During the times when the government required schools to turn to online learning,
Google Classroom ensured that our students obtain learning materials anytime anywhere and submit homework in time. It is also convenient for teachers to supervise students' learning effect, discover and solve students' questions in time. Many international students were unable to come to Canada for study because of Covid-19.
Our Moodle online system provides an excellent platform for them to obtain Ontario high school education. Our staff and teachers have carried out a timely tracking of each student's learning. Teachers explain the course content through Moodle, Zoom, and email; answer students' questions; and correct their homework and give feedback.
We are very pleased with our academic achievements this year. 80% of our graduating students were Ontario Scholars. We had a 100% university acceptance rate for our graduating class. Our students gained acceptance to many renowned universities, such as Yale University, University of Toronto, University of McMaster, Ryerson University, University of Manchester, Bristol University, University of Melbourne, and the University of Sydney. Cumulatively, our students received over $120,000 in scholarship money.
In June, we held a very special presentation for one of our students who was fortunate enough to secure a full scholarship to Yale University. It not only recognizes her academic excellence, but also her leadership, discipline, and responsibility. We are very proud of her accomplishments and wish her the best in her studies at Yale.
Convoy developed a detailed Covid-19 Readiness Plan at the outbreak of the pandemic, which was approved by the Ontario government. For each student from another province or another country who arrived at our Essa campus, our school would provide a 14-day quarantine. From airport pick-up, to single room arrangement, meals, temperature test, psychological counseling, academic progress, and Covid-19 test, we all had designated staff to handle each and every step. We disinfect the campus twice a day and check the temperature of students and staff every day, to best protect our teachers and students from Covid-19.
We welcome the new students who will join our Convoy family in the Fall of 2021! In the upcoming new school year, our school is planning on more development. Academically, we will continue to help each student improve their performance in the subjects and will participate in more academic competitions; In terms of campus life, we are installing indoor golf facilities as well as building an outdoor golf course on campus; In terms of activities, with the abated influence of Covid-19, we will lead students to visit the museums in Ontario and experience those popular activities of Canada, such as camping and skiing.
We sincerely hope that through the joint efforts of our staff, students and families, we will usher in an even more brilliant 2021-2022 academic year.
From Fall 2022, the Literacy Test will be resumed again.
In-class students must take the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT). The test will be computer-based and organized at school in a classroom.
Online students who cannot physically come to school to take the OSSLT test must take the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Course (OSSLC).
The test or the course can be taken in grade 10, 11, or 12.
Please contact the school for more information.
